In 2007 he signed with Warner Chapell Publishing after he went to Nashville as a songwriter and singer. In 2009, Brantley Gilbert released his first album known as A Modern Day Prodigal Son. The next year he released another album named Halfway to Heaven. Both of the albums were released under an independent label named Average Joes Entertainment.

In 2011, he released a deluxe edition of Halfway to Heaven after collaborating with Valory Music. Co which is a division of Big Machine Records. The producer of the album was Dan Huff.
