Aamir Khan started his acting career at the age of 8 yrs in 1973. His first appearance on screen was as a child actor in the film Yaadon Ki Baarat. This film was directed by his uncle Nasir Hussain.
In 1984, he did his next film Holi as an adult actor. His full-time acting career started in 1988 with the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak where he was in a leading role.

Aamir Khan started his movie career as a child actor when he was 8 years old in the movie Yaadon ki Baaraat which was directed by his uncle Nasir Hussain in the year 1973.

In the 90’s he did many films like Dil, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar, Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, and Rangeela. All of these films were a box office hit. He also did a comedy film Andaz Apna Apna co-starring Salman Khan which was also a box office hit.
In 1996, he did Dharmesh Darshan directed Raja Hindustani opposite Karishma Kapoor which was a box office blockbuster. The film became the biggest hit of the year and it also became the third-highest-grossing film of the year in the 1990s. This film earned him his first Filmfare Award For Best Actor. It was his career’s biggest hit in the 90s.
In 1997, he did Ishq alongside Ajay Devgan, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol and the film was a box office hit. In the next year, he did Ghulam where he was paired opposite Rani Mukherjee and the film was just moderately successful in the box office.
In 2001, he produced and directed Lagaan which turned out to be one of the best movies in his career. Lagaan was a major commercial success at the box office. It also received a nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Academy Awards. Lagaan won many awards including a National Filmfare Award and helped him win his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
After this, he did Dil Chahta Hai with Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta. The film was written and directed by Farhan Akhtar. It was Farhan Akhtar’s debut movie as a director.
After that Aamir Khan took a 4 years gap from Bollywood after his divorce with wife Reena Dutta.
He again returned to the film industry in 2005 with Mangal Pandey directed by Ketan Mehta. Mangal Pandey was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2006 he did Rakeysh Omprakash Mishra’s Rang De Basanti. This was an award-winning film as Aamir Khan earned Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. This film was also nominated for India’s official entry to the Oscars.
In 2007 he did his directorial debut with the film Taare Zameen Par which was also produced by him.
